The Federal Trade Commission new ruling for internet marketers and everyone including bloggers doing business online and getting compensated for it will take effect on December 1, 2009.
SEE: FTC – “Publishes Final Guides Governing Endorsements, Testimonials” http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2009/10/endortest.shtm
It spells new hope for honest online marketers as well as bloggers that make money through their blogs.
Many are worried that a disclosure of compensation will hurt their sales. As well as extra work in providing actual successful results. Some on the other hand say quite the opposite. They actually welcome this new ruling as a new beginning, to clear out the bad seeds and welcome a new era of honest marketing where false testimonies and case studies will have to prove their worth. Customers and online buyers will have more protection online.
Transparency for both sellers and buyers and online surfers alike will receive a measure of open disclosure that can benefit each or destroy all. Nothing is guaranteed in online marketing as a business as well as guaranteed successful results for hopeful buyers.
So what can one do to secure their sites or blog and be FTC compliant with this ruling?
SEE: http://www.clicknewz.com/?s=ftc
And here for more info for bloggers: http://bit.ly/4jmrrN
This FTC ruling is just a beginning of many more rulings to come, balancing in tune with technology in how information and products are exchanged and disseminated. As more and more ways to profit online become of use and more ways for people to interact online become more apparent, more rulings will come about.
I think this is a good thing. I’ve updated my blog’s pages – earnings and privacy policy as well as others. And at the same time, keeping alert for more explanation and information about this ruling and how best to follow it well.
It is the nature of this world wide web as it grows exponentially in terms of its use, so will governments and ruling parties seek to keep it in check and safe for all.
In celebration of this Thanksgiving Holiday – More Crapberries anyone? I don’t thinks so – at least not so from those who have benefited from less honest marketing ads and such.
Do you agree? And if not, why?
